History

Transammonia is an international merchandising and trading company that markets, trades, distributes and transports fertilizer and commodities (including petroleum coke and coal), ammonia, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), petrochemicals (chiefly aromatics).

The history of Transammonia spans more than 46 years. The company was formed in 1965 with the intention of specializing in the international trade of ammonia.

In subsequent years other products were added:

1967 Worldwide fertilizer merchandising and trading.
1978 Worldwide LPG trading.
1985 Purchased Sea-3, Inc.; propane import and marketing terminal in New Hampshire, USA.
1986 U.S. domestic sulphur removal and marketing system.
1987 Petrochemicals merchandising and trading by the Trammochem division.
1989 Purchased Meredosia, Illinois, USA ammonia terminal.
1992 Established Joint Venture with Sinochem for entry into the Chinese fertilizer market.
1992 Acquired the largest capacity US Methanol plant from E.I. Dupont and renamed it Beaumont Methanol Corporation (BMC). Methanol marketed by Trammochem.
1995 LPG merchandising and trading in the USA.
1999 Sulphuric acid merchandising and trading.
2000 Sea-3 of Florida propane import and marketing terminal begins operation in Tampa, Florida, USA.
2000 Olefins merchandising and trading by the petrochemicals group.
2002 Trammo Petroleum begins operating in Houston, Texas, USA merchandising and trading crude oil and refined products.
2003

Trammo Petroleum enters into the domestic U.S. crude oil gathering and marketing business

2008

Established Trammochem Asia PTE in Singapore for merchandising and trading petrochemicals in Asia.

2009

Established Transammonia DMCC, a Dubai UAE company, for merchandising and trading in the Middle East.

2009

Established Transammonia Shanghai for domestic merchandising and trading in China.

2009

Petroleum Coke merchandising and trading by the Fertilizer and Commodity division.

2010

TA Bulk Carriers enters the commodity shipping business.

2011

Coal merchandising and trading by the Fertilizer and Commodity division.
